They are the political voice that represents the interests of the “Fifth Switzerland”: the members of the Council of the Swiss Abroad elected for the 2021–2025 term. A good third of the members are new to the Council. And once again, just under one third of them are women.

Der Auslandschweizerrat, eigentlich für alle Auslandschweizer, aber nur wählbar für Mitglieder in Auslandsschweizer-Vereinen. Das wurde bereits mehrfach von Auslandschweizern moniert, weil das Wahlrecht limitiert wird.

Es sieht nicht so aus, als ob Bestrebungen vorhanden sind, dies zu ändern. Sind die Vereinsmitglieder die besseren Auslandschweizer? Der Auslandschweizerrat vertritt mich nicht, da ich von der Wahl ausgeschlossen bin. Dieses Wahlprozedere hilft der Glaubwürdigkeit des Rates nicht. Es bewirkt eher das Gegenteil.
