Swiss Abroad Statistics 2023

The number of pensioners in the Fifth Switzerland is rising steadily – not least due to fears of poverty in old age

28 March 2024 – Figures published by the Federal Statistical Office show that the community of the Swiss Abroad continues to grow. As in 2022, the group of people aged over 65 once again saw the largest percentage increase. Statistics suggest that the increase is in part related to the growing risk of poverty in old age.

is the most popular adopted country of Swiss Abroad (209 300) – this amounts to 25.7% of the community of the Swiss Abroad.

Germany

is the second most popular adopted country of Swiss Abroad (99 600) – this amounts to 12.3% of the community of the Swiss Abroad.

USA

is the third most popular adopted country of Swiss Abroad (83 700) – this amounts to 10.3% of the community of the Swiss Abroad.
